Deactivation and Decommissioning (D&D) is the process of taking an existing facility or site to a final disposition end state. Because often times there may be hazardous materials present on the site, government controls were put in place to insure that these hazardous materials are addressed from a safety, programmatic, environmental, and technological standpoint. Hazardous Materials Abatement may also be required as part of restoration / renovation program where abatement is necessary before any other work can occur in the same area.
The Farmer Group provides D&D with Abatement services. Included are the technical knowledge and regulatory expertise to achieve environmental remediation solutions to complex environmental issues providing effective and affordable solutions. Our project management and technical staff generate the cost estimates, schedules, technical / engineering reports, and documentation. We can provide all necessary abatement, remediation, demolition and waste disposal services. The Farmer Group works only works with licensed fully certified environmental crews and subcontractors.
Also referred to as enhanced fluid recovery, is primarily used on underground storage tank sites that are leaking. Vacuum services can remove products including groundwater and soil vapors.
Also called hydro-blasting, uses high-pressure streams of water to clean and cut through dense materials, like steel and concrete. Hydro-blasting can effectively remove debris and clean tubes, surfaces, pipes and containers. Abrasive material is propelled at high pressure against a surface in an effort to smooth a rough surface or roughen up a smooth surface.
Through the utilization of dry ice propelled at high pressure, surfaces can be cleaned without water residue that can further contaminate the work environment. Highly effective, environmental preferable and easy clean up.
Used to clean up, etch or remove coatings from different substrates.
Include cleaning pipes of all different sizes, root removal, removal of hard deposits, tap trimming, and prevention of overflow and emergency sewer cleaning services.
Performed prior to the demolition or as part of the renovation of a facility or site. Tools and methods used during abatement may include negative pressure / filtered exhaust systems; mobile decontamination trailers or purpose built, site specific decontamination units; HEPA vacuuming; air monitoring; and visual inspections.
Lead based material have been banned for decades. Abatement to permanently eliminate lead-based paint hazards and lead-contaminated dust from may include permanent enclosure or encapsulation of lead-based paint, replacement of lead-painted surfaces or fixtures. As with all abatement projects, The Farmer Group’s team of highly trained professions, preps, abates, cleans and disposes of contaminated materials in accordance with the most current work practice standards.
Our handling and removal of PCB laden materials is performed in accordance with all industrial codes and regulations. Tools and methods used during PCB-related cleaning include, restricted area access; ventilation, filtration and exhaust systems restricting contaminate discharge; PCB resistant protective clothing and equipment; respirators; restricted clothing removal/disposal area; worker decontamination shower units.
